There are two pandas in Kung Fu Panda!!
Aside from it’s great life philosophical content, Kungfu Panda, a Dreamworks’ animation movie, introduced us to two species of panda. The first is Po, the character’s taken from animal called Giant Panda, or infamously known as Panda. The second is Master Shifu, which taken from animal called Red Panda.
“What? Shifu is a Panda? I thought he’s a raccoon, or maybe a cat, how come he is a panda?” Yes, many of my friends thought like that. They’re not completely wrong, though.. Yup, while the big fat Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), or just Panda, came from Bear family (Ursidae), The little cute Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) came from family Ailuridae, that has a close relative with Weasel family, Raccoon family, and Skunk family. Both of Shifu and Po, euh..i mean Red Panda and Giant Panda are bamboo feeder, although they would eat meat, fish, egg, etc when available. It’s because Giant Panda still have a carnivorous digest tract system (he’s from Bear family at all), and Red Panda’s relatives is weasel, a chick(en) prowler.
Last thing last, why do you think Tay Lung, the enemy, taken from animal snow leopard? That’s simply because Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia) is the natural predator for Red Panda.

When I was watching Kungfu Panda, I also thought that the cute master Shi Fu was a racoon, instead of PANDA…

Entah kenapa aku nggak suka Po … dan isi Kampung aneh itu yang isinya hanya babi, bebek, dan aku lupa … hanya ada 3 spesies di sana … Ahahaha …
